Western Australia Beaches - Live conditions across the Indian Ocean coast
About Western Australia
Western Australia's coast runs 20,000km from tropical Broome to cold Esperance, the longest coastline of any state. Perth's ocean sunsets are legendary, Ningaloo is a fringing reef you can swim to from the sand, and the south goes properly cold. We score 11 beaches daily.
What Makes It Special
- •Ningaloo Reef at Exmouth is one of the world's largest fringing reefs, accessible by walking straight off the beach onto the coral
- •Indian Ocean sunsets facing due west: Perth's nightly light show over the ocean is one of Australia's most consistent spectacles
- •The coastline spans 43 degrees of latitude, from tropical Broome and the Kimberley to the cold Southern Ocean at Esperance
Best Time to Visit
Perth beaches October to April. Broome and the Kimberley May to October only: wet season stingers make salt water dangerous November to April. Ningaloo for whale sharks March to July. Esperance year-round for scenery, November to March for swimming.
