Trigg Beach
About the Beach
Trigg Beach sits about 16 km north of Perth CBD, just above Scarborough on the Indian Ocean. It is west-facing with a more relaxed feel than its busier neighbour, with less development behind the dunes, fewer crowds, and a local crowd that keeps coming back for that reason. Trigg Island, a limestone outcrop at the northern end, creates rock pools at low tide. Mettams Pool, just north of the beach, is the main snorkelling spot in the area.
Conditions here are more demanding than they look. Strong rips run along the beach including around the Blue Hole on the south side of Trigg Island, rocks and reefs are present, and the swell can get sizeable. It suits surfers and bodyboarders who know the water. Patrolled October to April. Swim between the flags.
Parking is off West Coast Drive with toilets on the foreshore. A beachside cafe opens from early morning. The coastal path south to Scarborough is a solid walk.
Conditions at 5:21 pm
Light north-westerly winds around 10km/h with a small 0.5m swell from the west. A mild 21°C in the air with cool 20°C in the water, and a falling tide. Cloudy skies with a minimal UV index of 0.
