Kimberley Beaches
About the Region
The Kimberley is one of Australia's last true wilderness coastlines, with red pindan cliffs meeting turquoise tidal waters. Find 1 beaches across 1 suburbs.
What Makes It Special
- •Red pindan cliffs dropping into turquoise tidal water - a colour contrast found nowhere else on earth, best seen at Cable Beach in Broome
- •Dinosaur footprints at Gantheaume Point - 130-million-year-old sauropod tracks exposed on the reef flat at low tide
- •Staircase to the Moon at Roebuck Bay - a natural illusion created by the full moon rising over tidal flats, visible a few nights each month from March to October
Best Time to Visit
May to October for the dry season - the only sensible time to visit. Stingers, extreme humidity, and cyclone risk make the wet season (November–April) uncomfortable and potentially dangerous. June and July are the peak months - book accommodation well in advance.
