Floreat Beach
About the Beach
Head down to Floreat and you'll find white sand backed by dunes, a coastal cycle path, and way fewer crowds than City Beach next door. The rock groyne creates a reliable left-hander for surfers and bodyboarders, especially when autumn and winter swells kick in. On clear days, you can spot Rottnest Island on the horizon.
Morning swims are calm, but conditions build through the afternoon as the Fremantle Doctor arrives. Strong rips run along the groyne, so this isn't the place for inexperienced swimmers going solo. Get in early or wait for weekends when the SLSC patrols.
Families love it here. You've got a playground, free BBQs, showers, and a café. Head north to Hale Road if you want to bring the dog. It's one of Perth's best dog beaches. Cyclists use the path, volleyball courts are on the foreshore. Summer weekends get packed, but most of the year stays quiet.
Tomorrow's Forecast
Expecting strong westerly winds around 26km/h with a solid 1.3m swell from the west. Mild 20°C in the air expected with cool 19°C in the water, and a falling tide. Cloudy skies with a minimal UV index of 1.
