Tallebudgera Creek Beach
About the Beach
Tally Creek is where a calm estuary meets a sandy beach, all in one walkable spot. The turquoise water sits against Burleigh Head National Park's rainforest. The rock groin lookout stretches from Palm Beach to Coolangatta.
The estuary is one of the Gold Coast's safest family swims, shielded from ocean swells. Neptune Royal SLSC patrols from November through April and school holidays. Keep to the shallows near the bank though, the middle drops off sharply with a strong current, and the creek mouth is dangerous at any tide.
Head across to Tallebudgera Beach, part of the Gold Coast World Surfing Reserve. Winter swells (June, July) bring the best waves with westerly winds and a south swell. The Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre sits right next door.
Parking fills fast from 11am weekends, so get there early or catch the bus. Park at Burleigh Hill and walk the Oceanview Track if you prefer, about 30 minutes down.
Conditions at 12:32 pm
Strong southerly winds around 23km/h with a moderate 0.9m swell from the east. A cool 19°C in the air with comfortable 21°C in the water, and a falling tide. Cloudy skies with a minimal UV index of 2.
