Broadbeach
About the Beach
Broadbeach sits on the Gold Coast, facing east into the Pacific. It's a classic open beach where the surf rolls in consistently, drawing boardriders, bodysurfers, and families in equal measure. Lifeguard patrols run here year-round, so you can swim between the flags with confidence.
The ocean demands respect though. Strong rips, longshore currents, and gutters make this a genuinely hazardous stretch if you're not careful. The rips shift constantly too, so always swim between the flags. Sharks are a known presence in these waters. Stick to the patrolled zone and read the conditions before you get in.
You'll find parking, toilets, and cafes close by, making a full day here easy to pull off. It's also a solid stretch for a long walk or a bodyboard session when conditions allow.
Crowds are part of the deal, especially on weekends. Come early or head down mid-week if you want more room on the sand.
Conditions at 9:26 am
A fresh southerly breeze around 18km/h with a moderate 0.7m swell from the south-east. A cool 17°C in the air with comfortable 21°C in the water, and a falling tide. Clear skies with a minimal UV index of 1.
