Bells Beach

About the Beach

Bells Beach is a surfing shrine. It holds deep cultural significance in Australian surfing history and was immortalized in the classic film "Point Break". Few breaks in Australia carry this kind of weight.

This reef break produces powerful, long-walled waves that break over a rock shelf, making it one of the country's most consistent and respected surf spots. The main break is for experienced surfers only, but you'll find beaches suitable for all levels in the surrounding area.

Bells Beach is home to the world's longest-running professional surfing competition. The Rip Curl Pro has been held here every Easter since 1962. Head down during Easter and you'll watch the pros tackle this iconic break from the viewing areas.

Autumn and winter produce the biggest, most consistent swells. Free parking at Bells Beach car park accessed via Bells Boulevard. The Surf Coast Walk passes through, connecting Bells to neighboring beaches along dramatic coastal cliffs.
