Best Beaches near Clovelly
About the Suburb
Explore 4 beaches near Clovelly, a narrow sheltered inlet in Sydney's east that's perfect for snorkelling among blue gropers and tropical fish. The concrete platforms on either side make it a unique spot for lap swimming and sunbathing.
What Makes It Special
- •Resident blue gropers that swim right up to snorkellers - they're protected and friendly
- •Unlike any other Sydney beach - a narrow channel, not open sand
- •The Clovelly Hotel pub across the road for a post-swim schooner
Getting There
25 minutes from Sydney CBD. Bus 339 from Bondi Junction. Very limited street parking on Clovelly Road - bus or walk recommended. Walk from Coogee (10 min) or Bronte (15 min) via the coastal path.
Best Time to Visit
Year-round - the inlet stays calm in most conditions. Summer for warmest water and best fish activity. Avoid nothing - Clovelly is sheltered even when the ocean is wild.
