Little Wategos Beach
About the Beach
Little Wategos Beach sits in a quiet sheltered corner of Byron Bay. The north-facing aspect keeps swells manageable, so you'll find calm waters here that are great for a quiet swim or snorkel when conditions align. The sheltered conditions also mean good visibility for exploring the rocky reefs.
There's no car park at the beach, so it's a 600-metre walk from nearby facilities. No toilets either, and getting down to the sand isn't straightforward. Rocks and strong currents make this a place where you need proper water sense. This isn't a swim-anywhere beach.
No lifeguards patrol here, so you're responsible for your own safety the moment you enter the water. Head down when conditions favour you and you're confident in what you're doing.
You'll find decent fishing opportunities and a scenic rocky coastal walk. Come prepared, respect the conditions, and you'll have a proper local experience away from the crowds.
Tomorrow's Forecast
