Point Cartwright Beach
About the Beach
Point Cartwright Beach is a raw headland break on the Sunshine Coast, sitting at the southern tip of Buddina. The north-northwest facing aspect picks up swell from a wide arc, and on the right day you'll find quality waves for surfing and bodyboarding. It rewards those who know how to read a break, and it punishes those who don't.
This beach is unpatrolled. No lifeguard, and the hazard list is serious. Strong rips, river mouth currents, shore break, and rocks and reef are all in play. Sharks and jellyfish add to the picture. If you're not a confident, experienced water user, stay out of the water.
Away from the surf, there's still good reason to visit. Walk the headland for coastal views or fish off the rocks. Parking, toilets, and cafes are all close by, making it a comfortable spot to spend a few hours even if you're keeping your feet dry.
Conditions at 6:00 am
Strong southerly winds around 27km/h with a solid 1.3m swell from the south-east. A cool 15°C in the air with cool 20°C in the water, and a falling tide. Clear skies with a minimal UV index of 0.
