Collaroy Beach
About the Beach
Collaroy runs about 3.6km of golden sand north into Narrabeen, forming one of Sydney's longest unbroken beach stretches. Long Reef headland partly shelters the beach from southern swells, making conditions calmer than Narrabeen to the north. It's a solid choice for families, beginner swimmers, and those learning to surf.
At the southern end you'll find a 50m, 7-lane ocean pool with a separate toddler pool and ramp entry, one of the bigger lap pools on the Northern Beaches. Just south, Long Reef Aquatic Reserve has been protected since 1980 and is great for snorkelling or the 3km coastal walk with views toward the Central Coast.
Getting here without a car is genuinely easy. A B-Line bus stops directly opposite the beach, running to the CBD every 5-10 minutes.
Rips are unpredictable, so always swim between the flags. The beach is a designated coastal erosion hotspot and sand width can vary a lot after storms. Lifeguards are on from October to April, 9am to 5pm, until 6pm in summer.
Tomorrow's Forecast
Expecting strong southerly winds around 21km/h with a large 1.5m swell from the south-east. Cool 17°C in the air expected with comfortable 21°C in the water, and a falling tide. Cloudy skies with a minimal UV index of 0.
